The flowers of Bushy Aster are ½-¾ inch wide and light purple or occasionally white. Small leaves grow on the stems of the flowering stalks. The plant parts—leaves, stems, and roots—are used by a variety of insects including caterpillars of moths and butterflies, plant bugs, and leafhoppers. Bushy Aster is found mostly in the Piedmont and Coastal Plain in Virginia and can handle growing in areas with fluctuating levels of moisture.
