Slender Goldenrod
Solidago erecta

Height: 2-3 ft
Spread: 1-2 ft
Bloom Time: August-October
Sunlight: Full Sun to Part Shade
Soil Moisture: Dry, Very Dry
Life Cycle: Perennial

This nonaggressive goldenrod has yellow flowers that bloom in a wand-like structure in August through October. The leaves often form rosettes at the base of the plant. Growing around 2-3 feet tall, Slender Goldenrod prefers dry, well-drained soils and can grow in dry woods with scattered sunlight or in open areas, like sunny banks and meadows.

Many insects use this plant, including Goldenrod Crab Spiders. Yellow or white flowers, especially goldenrods, are preferred by these spiders since they camouflage themselves, turning from yellow to white. This process of changing colors is slow, happening over 10-25 days.
