​This short species is a member of the Iris family and has grass-like foliage that forms a small clump. It can reach heights of around 6 to 12 inches tall. It flowers earlier than many perennials, its six-petaled flowers blooming in April through June. These flowers are a blue/purple color with yellow centers and are around a half inch wide. They are an early nectar source for pollinators and are visited by small native bees. Deer Resistant.
