Black Raspberry
Rubus occidentalis

Height: 3-5 ft
Spread: 3-5 ft
Bloom Time: May-June
Sunlight: Full Sun to Part Shade
Soil Moisture: Moist, Medium, Dry, Very Dry

Black Raspberry canes have a purple/silvery look and arch over, rooting and forming colonies with time. The flowers are white, turning into black berries in June and July. These berries are important for a variety of songbirds and woodpeckers. Mammals, such as foxes, opossums, and raccoons also feed upon them. Typically Black Raspberry canes grow 3 to 5 feet tall and, since they spread to form colonies, they should be given space in habitat corridors.
