Self Heal
Prunella vulgaris

Height: 1 ft
Spread: 1-2 ft
Bloom Time: May-September
Sunlight: Full Sun to Part Shade
Soil Moisture: Moist, Medium, Dry
Life Cycle: Perennial

A member of the mint family, Self Heal has tubular purple flowers that appear to be stacked on top of each other. They continually bloom for an extended period of time from spring to late summer. Self Heal does well in damp habitats with full sun or part shade. In drier areas, it prefers to have some shade throughout the day and can even grow in dappled light in woodland settings. Over time, Self Heal can gradually spread to form a small group. Floral visitors include an assortment of bees, as well as small butterflies. Another common name for this species is Heal All. Deer Resistant.
