Alternate-leaved Seedbox is a bushy species that thrives in wet meadows, ditches, and around ponds and streams. Its stems are often red-tinged, and its yellow flowers have four-petals and are around ¾ of an inch wide. These flowers bloom during a long period of the year throughout late spring, summer, and early fall. The common name of this species is derived from its unique box-shaped seed capsules that are filled with seeds. The flowers of Alternate-leaved Seedbox are visited by Halictid Bees, Leaf-cutting Bees, and many other species.
