This mid-height grass has light colored seedheads that form in August to October. Natural populations occur along streams, ponds, and also in clearings with mesic/average to slightly dry soil moisture. It often spreads to form groups by means of its roots. White Cutgrass is a host plant for the caterpillars of Northern Pearly Eye butterflies. Deer Resistant.
