As a dense species with a mounding form, Common Rush provides cover for wildlife in wet meadows and alongside streams and ponds. Various birds, mammals, fish, and frogs utilize its cover for their nesting/egg laying sites. Its many vertical stalks are smooth and round, producing blooms and seedheads in summer. It can reach heights of 2 to 4 feet tall, with a similar width. Common Rush prefers areas with plenty of moisture and grows well around ponds, ditches, streams, and wet meadows. Deer Resistant.
