HOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE THROUGH NATIVE PLANTS
STEP #1- Identifying Native Plants
What native plants do you already have on your property? Helping to make a difference through native plants begins by identifying and protecting these species. This is the #1 most important thing you can do on your journey for making a beneficial ecosystem on your property! STEP #2-Recognizing Non-native Invasives
Non-native invasive plants spread aggressively, out-competing native plant species, and are a major threat to the environment. Identifying and removing these invasives in a way that supports pre-existing native plants should be a primary goal to helping create a healthy ecosystem on your property. STEP #3-Adding Habitat Corridors
Adding areas for native plants to thrive can help to turn your property into a beneficial ecosystem! A great way to do this is by converting sections of lawn and other places that lack native plants into habitat corridors. This can be done by both planting local natives that are suitable to the location and also by encouraging natives to spread in naturally. These areas will not only help counteract habitat loss, but also create a supportive environment for insects, birds, and other native wildlife to flourish! Learn more about creating a habitat corridor—and how it differs from traditional flower gardening—by clicking here! If you would like to receive our newsletter, please subscribe below. Our newsletter is produced on a monthly/bimonthly basis and includes information on growing natives, species availability updates, and more.
Please join us on our mission to help native plants! By working together, we can all help make a difference in restoring and reconnecting local ecosystems.
