The woody stems of Spotted St. John's Wort are sturdy and give this species its upright, bushy structure. True to its name, it has leaves that are covered with a large number of tiny dots. The clusters of many small yellow flowers are set at the top of this species, blooming for a long period of time in summer. Interestingly, this plant does not have nectar, but Halictid Bees visit to collect pollen instead, which they feed their young. Spotted St. John's Wort thrives in a variety of different environments throughout Virginia and does well in both sunny conditions and open woodlands. Deer Resistant.
