It's named for its four-petaled cross-shaped yellow flowers that bloom in late spring and summer. This species naturally occurs in both open and partially shaded environment. It can thrive on dry banks, in fields, and even in rocky or dry open woods. The leaves are small and light green, helping the plant to form a bushy structure. Birds, including White-throated Sparrows, feed on the seeds during colder weather. Deer Resistant. |
