Naked-flowered Tick Trefoil
Hylodesmum nudiflorum

Height: 1-2 ft
Spread: 1 ft
Bloom Time: July-August
Sunlight: Part Shade to Shade
Soil Moisture: Medium, Dry, Very Dry
Life Cycle: Perennial

Naked-flowered Tick Trefoil is named for the way its flowering stems appear from the ground with no visible leaves attached. This woodland species has leaves on a separate stalk instead that typically emerges from the ground a few inches from where the "naked" flowering stem derives. The leaves grow in a whorl of three. In summer, the slender raceme of pink pea-like flowers blooms. Since the flowers don't contain nectar, bees that visit the blooms collect pollen instead.
