White Avens
Geum canadense

Height: 2 ft
Spread: 1-2 ft
Bloom Time: May-July
Sunlight: Part Shade
Soil Moisture: Moist, Medium, Dry
Life Cycle: Perennial

White Avens thrives in open woodlands and in other areas of partial shade. During its late spring and early summer bloom time, it develops many five petaled white flowers that are around ½ inch wide. These blooms are visited by native flies, beetles, and bees. The lower leaves at the base of the plant form a rosette and look quite different from those that grow farther up the stem. This species can help to cover bare ground and often reseeds to form colonies. Deer Resistant.
