Round-leaf Tick Trefoil
Desmodium rotundifolium

Height: 3-6 in
Spread: 2-4 ft
Bloom Time: June-August
Sunlight: Full Sun to Part Shade
Soil Moisture: Very Dry
Life Cycle: Perennial

Also called Dollar Leaf, this Tick Trefoil species acts as a trailing perennial with round leaflets that are up to 2 inches wide. Its stems grow along the ground and loose spiked clusters of purple/pink flowers bloom in June to August. It thrives in dry, well-drained areas and grows most often in partially shaded woods and in clearings. As a member of the Pea Family, it helps to fix nitrogen into the soil. Seeds are used by bird species, including Wild Turkey.
