Virgin's Bower
Clematis virginiana

Height: up to 20 ft
Bloom Time: July-September
Sunlight: Full Sun to Part Shade
Soil Moisture: Moist, Medium, Dry
Life Cycle: Perennial Vine

Virgin's Bower is a climbing vine and a Clematis species that has lacy white flowers blooming in clusters. The male and female flowers are on separate plants and bloom in July to September. The light-colored flowers are easily found at night by nocturnal visitors, especially moths. Daytime visitors include butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, flies, and wasps. This species climbs with twisting tendrils and, although the stems don't get very thick or heavy, it should have plenty of room to spread. It can be planted on a structure or on the ground in a habitat corridor where it can meander among plants and climb up stems. Deer Resistant.
