Maryland Golden Aster
Chrysopsis mariana

Height: 1-2 ft
Spread: 1-2 ft
Bloom Time: July-October
Sunlight: Full Sun to Part Shade
Soil Moisture: Dry, Very Dry
Life Cycle: Perennial

Maryland Golden Aster is a short species of well-drained soils that does well in dry meadows, on banks, woodland edges, and in other dry sites with seemingly inhospitable conditions. It forms a short, bushy structure and produces cheerful yellow flowers in late summer and fall. Its bright flowers are prolific, long-blooming, and ¾ of an inch wide. Long-tongued bees are the primary visitors, especially cuckoo bees in the Epeolini family, who are active late in the year. After the blooms are finished, large, fluffy tan seedheads form. Deer Resistant.
