A mounding sedge of wet areas, Sallow Sedge has wide leaf blades and sports bottlebrush-type seedheads in June through September. It is native to damp environments, and its seeds are an important food source for many birds and waterfowl. This species does most of its growing during the cool months of the year, reaching heights of 2 to 3 feet tall. The sedge foliage is also sometimes used by native rodents to create their outdoor nests in wet meadows. Deer Resistant.
