White Snakeroot is an upright perennial that grows 2-3 feet tall. The white fuzzy-looking flowers of this species bloom in airy clusters at the top of the plant in late summer and fall. They are visited by many types of pollinating bees and butterflies. The bitter foliage has toxic properties that typically discourage deer and other mammals. Over time, White Snakeroot can spread by roots and seeds to form colonies.  Historically, this species caused milk sickness, but it is now valued as an important part of native habitats. It is essential for native insects and a host plant for multiple types of native moth caterpillars. Deer Resistant.
