Black Cohosh
Actaea racemosa Height: 4-6 ft Spread: 2-3 ft Bloom Time: May-August Sunlight: Part Shade to Shade Soil Moisture: Medium, Dry Life Cycle: Perennial Black Cohosh has large, divided leaves with elongated spikes of white flowers rising above. The flowering spikes are typically 1-2 feet tall and are comprised of many white flowers. Insects are attracted to the flowers, especially beetles who find plants by their sense of smell. During winter, birds eat the seeds, particularly during snowy weather when other shorter plants aren't available. Black Cohosh prefers nutrient rich, wooded settings. Deer Resistant. |
