Purple-stemmed Aster
Symphyotrichum puniceum

Excellent for wetter areas, including rain gardens and streambanks, purple-stemmed Asters are a very important late season nectar source for monarchs as they migrate south. Its light purple flowers are 1 to 1½ inches wide and are one of the latest to bloom in the year. Asters also host over 100 species of native caterpillars!
